On my way back to the house who is coming down the path toward me but Pastor Emmanuel. SIGH. Oh well. Most of the time I have a dress or skirt on. He was bringing me a list of people that the pastors had decided to invite for a conversational English 'club'.
I don't want to use the word 'class' as that implies a teacher and lessons. This I hope is more of an informal time of fellowship and talking about cultural and life issues in English. I think one of the first lessons needs to be about numbers. SMALL class I said, 10-15 I said, no more than 20 I said.....the list has 29 names on it.
We are expecting 5 visitors today. Cory will be heading out shortly for shopping in Cap and to met their MAF plane coming from LaGonave. This is why we were preparing the 'guest house.' While some work remains it is functional. There are a couple larger rooms that will in the future hold bunk beds.
I didn't want it to be called the 'guest house' or 'big house' so we have been looking for a name that talks about its purpose. After considering many I think it will be the House of Hope. Hope in our Bible Dictionary is 'expectation of good' in the New Testament and in the Old Testament 'refuge or shelter. It talks about how hope is based on the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and 'hope of glory'.
