Well update. Thanks for the prayers.

Test run of the pump on utility power.
Saturday the solar water installer arrived with the equipment!

We have had almost 24 hour power since last weekend, with Monday being Heroes Day and Tuesday - National Unity Day.

I wonder if they closed the copper mines for the week, which would reduce electric use.

So catching up on watering the garden and trees was possible but still only a few hours of water per day, with the 2,500 gallon tank closed the rest of the time to let it fill, which gives better water pressure when it is opened (gravity pressure system).

Testing the solar power
The new pump automatically runs on solar power when there is sun and switches to utility when solar is lacking.

During testing the utility power gave more water than solar but that maybe because the sun was getting low.

The old 2 hp [horse power] pump was taking more than 6 hours to fill the tank.

This was a problem when only receiving 6 hours of power at a time followed by 12 hours with no utility power.

This morning the tank was almost full after just 3 hours on the new pump!

The new pump is only 1hp since that is about all the water that the well could provide during the well test.

The old pump was at 42 meters deep. The installer put the new pump all the way to the bottom of the 49 meter deep well and then pulled it up one or two meters so the pump is deeper now.

This is also important with the prediction of many more wells going dry as the water table drops during the extreme drought Zambia is experiencing.

We are thankful to have full water pressure in our house this Sunday afternoon and look forward to being able to irrigate when it is convenient instead of during the brief times water was available, with low pressure. This will also allow resuming the hiring of students to do the watering in their free time.

Thank you to those who prayed!

God provided an installer who has been a pastor and hopes to be again.

He gave us a good price, considering it a ministry to help the Bible College.

We continue to pray for the water table to provide the needed water until the rains start in November.
