10 Days Until Christmas

Today looks like a repeat of yesterday's gloomy, cold [at least for the tropics-in the 70's] and wet day. Heavy rain alternated with drizzles yesterday but today only drizzles so far. Our French teacher came in a jacket and stocking cap! Anna and I dug out jeans and sweatshirts while Cory and Eli remain in shorts and T-shirt.

This time of year our daily 'routine' or 'schedule' often gets chipped away at by holiday events and the attitude of vacation. With the arrival of Eli and Anna's standardized tests Tuesday with the cargo run to Cap Haitian our school schedule received a major blow.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow while one child does testing the other studies on their own. Thankful for wireless so I can both proctor the testing and work on-line. Cory remains in the house to help with school, answer the phones and deal with anyone coming to the door. I asked my kids yesterday if them mind this type of testing like other kids do....some subjects they report they actually like!

I do not know how much momentum for our school days we will be able to recapture next week but we plan to attempt a few more full days before Christmas. It helps that Christmas here remains very low key and we do not have TV to remind them that other children will have started Christmas break.

Cory managed to get the clinic's new batteries connected to the inverter yesterday before we started testing. During a break he hooked up the new batteries in our house. With the rainy weather we needed the lights on during the day yesterday, so thankful it did not take him very long. Government power has been on more the last week so it will be helpful to charge the batteries and have them hold a charge all night.

Praise. Todd's surgery went well.
Prayer: Pastor's on campus for leadership training. Eli and Anna's testing.
