July 19th Family Bonding.

The sunshine fades behind my shoulders as we camp in South Dakota. After heading out Sunday we made good time to Chamberlain, South Dakota.

The highlight of Sunday I think: getting through Chicago without any trouble [I'm not counting the heat because it reminds me of Haiti where we do not know anyone with air conditioning.

Mondays highlight: Showing the kids where my folks took us to work on the Indiana reservation in Fort Thompson. A very nice lady showed us around the church and school building where over 50 children attend weekly meetings in addition to the adult services. We pointed out a sign that my mom painted, the wall paper border in the children's room we put up and the roof we shingled. Nice to see the work continuing as well as knowing we made a difference all those years ago.

Today we moved further West visiting Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Interesting to see and learn in person vs. our normal method of seeing pictures or reading from a book. My highlight: getting to watch my children interact with my folks and Todd's family.
