Early in the day Todd and Eli scraped down the hospital sign by the road. Chris and Kathleen then painted it twice and Kathleen will be working on the design. Unfortunately the sign can not be taken down to paint so the simpler the better...as the sign wobbles a bit and the painter will either be on a ladder or standing on the wall.
The shade overhang for the clinic patients waiting for labs now brightens up the whole front of the clinic. The Haitian people like bright colors. My camera does not do this justice as where the red and orange overlaps it creates a vibrant pink. If you really want to get a clear picture you will need to visit in person.
Four hospital rooms received two coats of paint today-a pale green. At least one more coat will be needed.
The prototype of the class room dividers now exists and many of the boards for the school benches stand ready to be put together....BUT.....a calamity. The big table saw appears to have a terminal illness. The electrician made a house call but apparently the motor can not be fixed. The cause of death may be the electricity. This will greatly hamper some of the projects but I remain confident that this flexible team will be able to continue to accomplish the work that they plan to do.
Meals today: bean sauce on white rice, Haitian beet salad [some left over shepard's pie and as always bread and jelly] with oatmeal cookies for lung. Supper will be noodles and cheese and possible banana shakes.
The team continues to do great. Trying to stay hydrated and healthy which I greatly appreciate. Thank you to the families who stayed back home and let them come. Thank you to our partners in prayer as well..keep up the great work!
Sorry pictures not loading..will try later.
